I have enjoyed working with all of you through the years. Your dedication and enthusiasm have lifted my spirits time and time again, and you have continuously inspired me. It has truly been an honor to collaborate with you to serve the children of Texas. I am very proud of all that we have accomplished together and will cherish many wonderful memories. You will be pleased to know that the 2012 summer reading program manuals have been written and the artwork has been created. My supervisor, Dawn Vogler, (dvogler at tsl.state.tx.us) and our office manager, Michael Shea (mshea at tsl.state.tx.us) will communicate with you about ordering the program materials. Please feel free to contact me at my personal e-mail below. Although I am sad to leave my work and my colleagues, I am very fortunate to be eligible to retire and look forward to spending several months relaxing. Thank you for being so wonderful for all of these years. I will miss you and hope to see you at conferences in the future. The reason that I ask, is that the public libraries stock the books for educators to get ready for the assessment tests. You can access the website here: http://www.tea.state.tx.us/index.aspx?id=2147495410&menu_id=660&menu_id2=795&cid=2147483660 Do we need to replace our books for TAKS and TEKS with STAAR? Isn't that a bizarre sounding question?!?!?
