The Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) competitive grants cycle
for fiscal year 2012 is well underway!

As a reminder, here are the available grant opportunities:

Cooperation Grants.  This grant program provides funds to public and
academic libraries for programs that promote cooperative services for
learning and access to information. Approximately $375,000 is available
for Library Cooperation Grants, subject to approval by the Texas State
Library and Archives Commission. While the request may be part of a
larger program, awards will not exceed $75,000.

Special Projects Grants. This grant program provides funds for programs
that expand library services to all members of the library's community.
It enables libraries to develop programs for populations with special
needs. Approximately $375,000 is available for Special Projects Grants,
subject to approval by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
While the request may be part of a larger program, awards will not
exceed $75,000.

Texas Reads Grants. This grant program funds public library programs to
promote reading and literacy within local communities. An estimated
total of up to $10,000 is available, subject to approval by the Texas
State Library and Archives Commission. The maximum award for FY2012 is
$3,000.

TexTreasures Grants. The TexTreasures grant program provides assistance
and encouragement to libraries to provide access to their special or
unique holdings, and to make information about these holdings available
to all Texans. An estimated total of up to $150,000 is available for
TexTreasures Grants, subject to approval by the Texas State Library and
Archives Commission. The maximum award for FY 2012 is $20,000 for a
single institution and $25,000 for collaborative grant projects.

The deadline for applications is February 25, 2011, with awards to be
announced in August 2011. The grant period will run September 1, 2011 -
August 31, 2012.
