From sbennett at tsl.state.tx.us Fri Apr 1 10:08:16 2011 From: sbennett at tsl.state.tx.us (Susan Bennett) Date: Fri, 1 Apr 2011 10:08:16 -0500 Subject: [Illpilot] Due Date on Received Slip Message-ID: <74F440BE5406B44DA9FA6DB4923201520322F1EB@Exchange01.win2k.tsl.state.tx.us> I have a request by one of the libraries using Navigator for a change to the received slip. Since the change would affect everyone, I wanted to run it by the group before making any changes. When you receive an item in from another library for your patron, a receive slip is printed. The due date from the lending library is printed on that slip. Many libraries move the due date up when checking the item out to the patron causing the due date printed on the receive slip to be incorrect for the patron. The library would like to remove the due date line from the receive slip. The original due date from the lending library will still be available on Navigator. What I need from you all is if you would like to remove the due date from the receive slip? If not, how do you work around the problem of the patron receiving an item with the incorrect due date? This due date will not match the due date that will be actually given to the customer for many libraries. Also from the replies so far that I have seen, if the label is used, then this date has to be hidden, crossed out, covered up, etc. I know having the due date print will be an issue for HPL. The label is used on the borrowed item to help in identifying it as an ILL item. But when the item is sent to the library branch where it is to picked up, this is when the item is checked out and the customer gets his true due date. At that time, a receipt is printed out with the real due date, but not in a format that can be used to easily cover up the label. So it would require the ILL staff to mark out this due date for every item label printed. Thanks, Jimmy From: Horton,Ralph Sent: Monday, April 04, 2011 10:46 AM To: Miller,Tom; Kuckelheim,Jimmy Subject: New will supply work queue categories Hi, This morning two new work queue categories were added to the lender's work queue for Texas. 1. Will Supply > 4 days 2. Will Supply > 2 weeks This is the number of request that were answered "Will Supply" but have not been shipped. 4 days is the normal turnaround time for most libraries. You may want to post this description to the Texas list. Thanks, Ralph -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... This action completes the request on both sides (lending and borrowing). Borrowers are reporting that items are in the "Return" category of the work queue for weeks after they ship the item back to the lender. We have found that some lenders are just completing the request instead of performing the "check-in" action. A review of what the "check-in" action does: - completes the requests on both ends (lender and borrower) - sends a "check-in indication" to the borrower so they know the lender has received the item - check-in action allows turnaround time stats to be calculated. - if you are using circ interop, NRE will check in the item on your ILS Best regards, Your WorldCat Navigator Implementation Team From squiroz at mail.ci.lubbock.tx.us Wed Apr 6 11:40:05 2011 From: squiroz at mail.ci.lubbock.tx.us (Sally Quiroz) Date: Wed, 06 Apr 2011 11:40:05 -0500 Subject: [Illpilot] Texas ILL Service - Reminder to use check-in action in NRE staff interface Message-ID: <4D9C51150200007300057A22@mail.ci.lubbock.tx.us> This is particularly important because it appears that items in "returned" status count towards the patrons limit and may prevent patrons from having access to ILL if updates are not correctly completed in a timely fashion. Will Supply - Lending request received by the library are picked up by the NRE backend processes and checked against the libraries catalog. If the library owns the item NRE and it is available NRE will answer "Will Supply". The number in the "Will Supply" category is the number of request waiting to be shipped by the lending library. Will > 4 days - This is the count of request in the "Will Supply" queue that are greater than 4 days old. Once a request that has been answered "Will Supply" it is typically filled within 1-4 days. Request in this queue should be reviewed and chased if your normal turnaround time is 1-4 days. Will > 2 weeks - This is the count of request in the "Will Supply" queue that are greater than 14 days old. Large libraries need a few more days to allow the item to be picked and routed to the ILL department from their branches. Request in this queue should be reviewed and chased if it shows up in this queue. Things to remember: - When a request is in the "Will Supply" queue the "clock" is turned off. These requests will NOT expire after 5 days and move on to the next lender.* - Request displayed in the "Will Supply > 4 days" queue will also be displayed in the "Will Supply" queue. Request displayed in the "Will Supply > 2 weeks" queue will be displayed in the "Will Supply > 4 days" and the "Will Supply" queue. - All requests will be displayed in all "Will Supply" queues regardless of the origin. A request is a request no matter where it came from. WCRS lending request will be displayed along with Navigator request. - If you are a low volume lender OCLC can send you an email when a request arrives in your will supply queue. *There are libraries that do not have a Z39.50 server. These libraries will not automatically answer will supply. Instead the request will stay in the "New Requests" queue. These requests will need to be printed on the picklist, pulled and then if found shipped. If not found on the shelf answer "Non Supply" Best regards, Your WorldCat Navigator Implementation Team -----Original Message----- From: illnavigator-bounces at lists.tsl.state.tx.us [mailto:illnavigator-bounces at lists.tsl.state.tx.us] On Behalf Of Sally Quiroz Sent: Tuesday, April 12, 2011 7:01 PM To: illnavigator at lists.tsl.state.tx.us; library at sangertexas.org Subject: Re: [Illnavigator] two new work queue categories These two categories are for lending requests routed to your library from WorldCat Resource Sharing from libraries outside of the Texas Navigator group.
