NEH Preservation and Access Research & Development Grants

These National Endowment for the Humanities grants support research and development projects that advance the nation's capacity to preserve and provide access to humanities resources. Applications that will make innovative use of digital technology are particularly encouraged. Examples of eligible projects include: developing technical standards and best practices for preserving and creating access to humanities collections; exploring more effective scientific and technical methods of preserving humanities collections; developing new procedures to create reference works; or improving the policies and practices of humanities research institutions affecting preservation and access on a national level. Awards normally are for two years and typically range from $150,000 to $390,000. Any U.S. nonprofit organization or institution is eligible. State and local government agencies are also eligible.
